Interview with Dave and Julian

JM: How long was your sentencing for?
Dave: Total of three years.
Julian: 90 days

JM: Did you spend time in a holding cell after your sentencing? If so, what was that like? If you didn't where did they they take you instead?
Dave: Actually, I was waiting for a year and a half in the jail until my trial and then another year and a half of the sentence because they gave me timed served.
Julian: Yes, cold and noisy, lots of inmates sleeping on the floor.

Wichita County, Texas is home to the Wichita County Jail, located, surprisingly, in Wichita Falls. If you're looking for information about visiting the jail, or if you're headed to jail and want to know what to expect, we have what you are looking for.

We have interviewed previously incarcerated inmates that spent time at Whichita County Jail so you can have the inside story of what life is really like in jail. Find out what the meals are like, or what the jail layout is. Or you can learn some tips for getting along with other inmates.

If you're visiting someone at the jail, it's important to know that you must have a state-issued ID with you. For many jails, this is to search for outstanding warrants, so if you have any, you'd be wise not to visit anyone in the jail. Also, make sure you don't have a cell phone with you, because the jail does not allow it.

If you're going to jail and want some money on your books, be sure to let someone know that they can send money orders to the jail, and they'll be placed on your books.

Feel free to browse the site to look for information about the jail. Ask a question if you'd like, or if you've been here, share your story. We'd love to hear from you.
