Meals

Interview with Patrick

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Patrick: You were given threes meals a day monday through Saturday and only twice on Sunday.

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Patrick: There were a few good meals although the portions were extremely small. It was hot depending on where in the jail you were located. The meals were delivered on a cart and if you lived in a block that the cart came to last the food would be cold and generally not as good.

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Patrick: I guess my favorite meal would be when we had chicken or hamburgers. My least favorite would probably be when we were served liver.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Patrick: You were allowed one store selection per week. It was filled with over priced snacks suck as pastries, chips, and candy. You could also get Capri suns to drink. It was easy to spend $30 a weeks and not have a whole lot to show for it.
