Leisure Time

Interview with Rhea

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Rhea: there was a t.v that was kept on during the day however we were only allowed to watch two different channels. our cells were kept open during the day so we were able to take showers or take a nap during the day. there were cards and dominoes to play too

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Rhea: there was a tv and we were only allowed to watch two different channels so it was not too difficult for us to decide as a group which channel to watch. there were cards and dominoes to play too which were used by the same people but there was not any competition

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Rhea: there was no exercise equipment to use in jail. there was an open space in population to walk i a circle

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Rhea: we did not have any outside time, that was not an option. you had to be creative if you wanted to stay in shape while in jail

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Rhea: i do not remember if the jail offered any church services. if i remember correctly, there was not any church services available
