Meals

Interview with Mizzell and Neil

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Mizzell: Three
Neil: 3 meals a day only.

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Mizzell: Its horrible beans about every day and when we didn't eat them the cheif would mix what was left for another day he never let anything go to waste no matter how bad it was
Neil: Very little food and very limited varieties. The food was very basic and only a small amount. A person could survive on what they gave us to eat, but we were not going to maintain our body weight with the limited food and calories. Drinks were especially poor in flavor....maybe say hot tea without sugar.

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Mizzell: Breakfast and fish night hated bean n cornbread
Neil: All the meals were not very good and none were my favorite by far. Hot dogs were the best I would say.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Mizzell: U could go to snack line in prison during the day but it was expensive but u got store only once in prison and county
Neil: No extra food. Commissary was once a week and very expensive. I would say a drink and snack would cost several dollars. But, it was very worth the cost...this was just about all we looked forward to...after visitation.
