Inmates

Interview with Randy

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Randy: Not surprisingly, I was able to get along with most of the other inmates. Myself, I am a quite, calm person. I keep to myself. No one really bothered me. Sure, i got in a few verbal fights but nothing physical.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Randy: Luckily, I was able to do a work program. I worked with the maintenance crew that worked on the entire lot. I worked 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. It was a full time job, but I got paid $0.33 an hour. That kept me busy, so I wasn't around other inmates as much.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Randy: Actually, in my case, I did not have a cell mate. I am glad I didn't. The privacy was great. But the people who did have cell mates did not get to choose who it would be.
