JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? John: There were no facilities to go to. You may get to
go outside for a hour once or twice a week if it
was warm and then it may be once a month just
depending on the staff and if they had enough
guards or if they felt like being outside. Other
than that there was nothing.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. John: The only entertainment there was was a tv and it
stayed on KAIT8 which is the local station. There
is cards and maybe dominos or checkers if you buy
them and you can have paperback books sent
sometimes. You spend a lot of time just laying in
bed or you figure how to entertain yourself.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? John: I personally get in great shape after I get tired
of sleeping because I start working out and it
tends to get addicting so I guess that is a good
thing.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? John: Like I mentioned before you may get outside one or
two times a week in the summer or it might be once
a month. There is a basketball but that is it. You
just walk the square around the edges of the fence
or sit and relax.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? John: Yes, they are nice and they have them twice a week
in a little chapel out back of the jail.
