JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't. Mario: while i was incarcerated my frame of mind was
good i wanted to change my life around and i was
staying positive and i had alot of support from
my familey. It was hard to find positive people.
there was alot of hateers.. people who were
going to prison for a long time and dident have
any support.
Tanya: Yes. For the most part, very little respect and
common courtesy shown towards each other. It's
loud and a lot of the inmates have poor hygiene.
Some inmates are coming off of alcohol or drugs
so they go through withdrawal in jail. Some sit
around and cry like they had no idea jail was a
consequence to breaking the law. I have little or
no sympathy for anyone who can't or won't accept
the consequence's to their choices/actions in
life.
JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates? Mario: while i was incarcerated i read alot of spritual
books,western books,and fiction. I wrote my
friends and familey alot. And played alot of card
games.I tried to find a rutine to avoid the bad
guys.. by staying in my cell when the negative
people were around.I also attened church and A.A
meetings. prayed and prayed alot.My self and
other inmates attend bible studys and sang
christian songs...
Tanya: I just stayed on my rack & read books. Keep to
myself mostly but sometimes no matter how hard
you try problems and fights just can't be avoided.
JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change? Mario: At first i was not able to as i was there for a
long period of time i formed realtionships with
a couple of positive guys, and are realtionship
with the guards were formed I was able to choose
a cell mate.I seen new guys come and go on a
daily basis. Tanya: No, I was in open barracks.
