JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time? Mitch: There are no facilities for that. You have to stay
in the same pod 24 hours a day. Maybe walk around
the yard for 15 minutes once every month but not
very often. You didn't use any facilities besides
your pod. You stay in the same room all day
everyday.
JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details. Mitch: It usually would cause a problem if you just walked
up and turned the tv channel. There was always
someone who claimed to be watching whatever was on.
So the only way to watch what you want is if several
other people also want to watch the same thing. It's
a first come first served basis.
JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail? Mitch: It's really easy to do alot of exercises in jail
like pushups and sit ups. But you can't get any
cardio exercise at all.
JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise? Mitch: We didn't go outside very much at all. When outside
you go to a small fenced area and you are allowed to
walk a few laps with the rest of the inmates. It
lasts about 20 minutes.
JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held? Mitch: We would have church Mondays and Wednesdays. Usually
2 or 3 men would come and have Bible study with
anyone that wanted to.
