Clothing

Interview with Ellen

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Ellen: none. They make you put all your stuff in a plastic bag at the booking process and replace it with all of there clothing

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Ellen: The uniform we had was white bras that didn't fit at all, white underwear that the elastic is loose. socks and some black slip on shoes and the "county blues" which was a blue pull over and loose blue pants with the la county logo on them.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Ellen: No except for the trusties made sure they picked them out the newest stuff and we are left with the rest. The workers got plain white t-shirts but basically wore the same

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Ellen: not at all we all wore the same
