Leisure Time

Interview with Rodney

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Rodney: You're left to your own devices. Books are the main thing. If you can get books you can start trading and pass the time that way. No TV.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Rodney: Just the books which were passed around.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Rodney: No that's what you do with your time. There are no exuses for not working out even in little cell you can do push ups and crunches.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Rodney: 3 times a week if were were lucky. The minimum was two times a week. We'd be out there for three hours at a time.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Rodney: I beleive that they did but I never went.
