Closing Advice

Interview with Shawn, Tom, Linda, Margaret and Laura

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
Shawn: Be patient. Show the person you care and believe in their change. don't turn your back especially if that person is on the road to recovery. Family is all we got in here.
Tom: Keep to yourself and only associate with your own race. Then they cant try to tell you that you did something wrong. Always keep a straight face and dont look at someone for too long.
Linda: I would suggest not to push the call button that is in your cell unless it is a life emergency. The deputies get really pissed off and yell at you and sometimes take away your time out to take a shower or use the phone.
Margaret: DONT STRESS, BECAUSE THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO CHANGE THE CURRENT SITUATION. JUST KEEP TO YOURSELF, OBEY THE RULES AND PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS (PUSH). OTHER THAN THAT SLEEP!
Laura: whoever is going to this jail broke the law. jail sucks, period, point blank. But its supposed to, thats why its jail. Maybe not being able to see their loved ones would make them appreciate them more and keep them outof trouble. Being away from my kids certainly worked for me

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
Shawn: Keep to yourself. Do your time. don't get into debt. And keep your acquaintences to a mnimum. do your best to stay out of jail in the future.
Tom: Well in West Valley, its easy to get caught up in the bullshit cause you are inside all day long. Just read, sleep and keep to ones self. Get it over with.
Linda: Just do what you are suppose to do and don't get into anyones business. Stay to yourself and do what the deputies tell you to do otherwise they will make your life more miserable.
Margaret: MY ADVISE IS TO COOPERATE WITH THE C.O.'S AND LAY LOW. STAY OFF OF THEIR RADARS. KEEP TO YOURSELF, AND DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO. THE LESS DRAMA THE BETTER!
Laura: sleep as much as you can, dont disrespect anyone, learn the rules and learn them fast, and dontbe no punk.Do the time, dont let time do you. if youre a guy, know theracial boundaries
