Medications

Interview with Shawn, Tom, Linda, Margaret and Laura

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Shawn: Yes
Tom: I didnt require any medications on a rotation
Linda: I did not take any medications.
Margaret: I THINK SO, BUT NO ONE REALLY WANTS TO BE ON THE MEDLINE.
Laura: if you needed them and you told them when you got booked in

JM: How did you get your medications?
Shawn: A nurse would pass them out at pill pass
Tom: There was a small office that had ibuprofen and the different medications that inmates had to take on a daily basis.
Linda: The nurse would come to each cell to hand out any medications to the inmates who were taking them each night.
Margaret: THEY WOULD CALL THE "REDLINE MEDS" OR "PREGO MEDS" A COUPLE TIMES A DAY AND THEY'DE LINE UP FOR THEIR MEDS.
Laura: you had to put in an inmate request slip andafter you saw the nurse however many times a day you were supposed tptakeit the nurse would call your name and you lined up and she gave itto you

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Shawn: Discontinued medications
Tom: I never did witness this the punishments, however I did witness someone sniffing ibuprofen. I dont know if that gives any kind of high or not.
Linda: If an inmate was caught with street drugs they would get another charge and more time added on. If they are caught abusing or hoarding their medication they could get put in the hole cell. I never witnessed this.
Margaret: YOU WOULD BE PUT IN THE HOLE OR SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. BUT IT WOULD MANY TIMES GET EVERYONE IN TROUBLE NOT JUST THAT PERSON.
Laura: I would assume loss of your good days behavior, or a disciplinary write up but no I have not ever witnessesd any of that
