Meals

Interview with Brittany and Jordan

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Brittany: 3 meals.
Jordan: It was three a day

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Brittany: A 3 out of 10. Not too good.
Jordan: It was standard like cafeteria food like mashed potatoes, veggies, soup, various types of small meat. It was like the quality I got at high school. It was plain, not very tasty, filling, and fattening and it was not that healthy I think but it was not as bad as I thought it would be

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Brittany: I couldn't eat the bologna sandwiches, no matter how hungry I would get. Tacos were one of the better meals because the tacos had salsa in them.
Jordan: The mashed potatoes was my favorite and the soup was good and the least was the breakfast and oatmeal and cereal

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Brittany: When I first got there I got a diabetic snack (sandwich and orange) but after 5 days they pulled it.
Jordan: It was snacks offered for purchase that people can send you money to buy like chips and candy that you could use as as stuff to be trading with others. It was about 50 percent more than it was on the streets in terms of costs
