Interview with Chris

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Chris: dayroom for watching tv and talk to other inmates telephone to talk to family and friends also twice a week we recieved outdoor recreation which entails handball playing basketball just being outside to get fresh air and sun tanning or reading a letter that was sent to you being able to socialize with others

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Chris: got to watch tv but it went in order which was whites tv day followed by the mexicans tv day which was followed by the blacks tv day but to find a program that all races were agreeable to was a chore itselfespecially when one race was doing it just to agitate the other

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Chris: for ones under 30 it was a manditory workout and those who were older stayed in shape just to be physcially fit

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Chris: after receiving kitchen dutys we basically were got to go outside almost everyday besides saturday and sunday which always resulted in a handball tourament against the other kitchen workers

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Chris: yes they did sundays adn wensdays and on sundays it was at 10 am and on wensdays it was at 8pm
