Good Behavior

Interview with Jamie and Karina

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Jamie: Good behavior in my case did not effect the outcome of the case because it took so long to get through trial. The whole six months i was unsentenced therefore the sentence could not be reduced
Karina: I thnk thats what its called, you get a 8 day kick and thats usually for everyone, unless you got in trouble for fighting or something

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Jamie: Probably about one fourth of the time alloted. Most of the jails are so overcrowded anyway they don't keep people very long.In the six months i was there I saw several women back three and four times.
Karina: i think 8 day kick

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Jamie: Again stay out of the mix and drama. People take borrowing something as simple as a top ramen very serious. Nobody gives you anything without it costing more than what you got. Very rarely are people just being nice when they give you something. They want something in return
Karina: Yes i did see girls taken to another unit for fighting or getting caught smoking, you dont want to get caught smoking or fighting or even sometimes even hiding food from your meals inside your room
