Sentencing

Interview with Tom, Frank and Ashlee

JM: How long was your sentencing for?
Tom: 3 years
Frank: I was sentenced to a county year, which here, with good behavior, becomes to 8 months. I also received 5 years of felony probation.
Ashlee: Sentenced to 120 days. They tried to give me 3 yrs at first.

JM: Did you spend time in a holding cell after your sentencing? If so, what was that like? If you didn't where did they they take you instead?
Tom: Yes. I was in a holding cell beneath the courthouse handcuffed to a wooden bench. It was very uncomfortable.
Frank: When I first got there at about 11am, I was put in a small holding room until I was booked. This sucked because it is like the size of a big closet, with a little bench on each side. The door has a little small window but there is not much to see. I was here until about midnight because they forgot about me. I had missed breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but when they realized that I at least got a little sack lunch thing and was finally booked in.
Ashlee: No, the only time I was in the holding cell is when I was waiting to be booked in. Then you are put in maximum until you are sentenced. Once you are sentenced, then you can go over to minimum. But then it also depends on your charges.
