Inmates

Interview with Brandon

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Brandon: Yes, of course. I did my best to stay away from inmates I didn't get along with. We all come from different walks of life, and personalities are going to clash, this concept isn't any different in jail, it's actually more intense.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Brandon: Stay away from guys I know who were trouble. Stay in my cell and read. There wasn't really any time where I would be forced to be around someone I had a problem with. It wasn't hard to keep to myself at West County. They even give you a key to your room.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Brandon: There was one time when a friend of mine came in, and I was in my cell alone. I asked the deputy if my friend could move in and he said yes. It's up to the deputy I believe.
