Medications

Interview with Lena, Janis and Anna

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Lena: Yes. As a matter of fact I was on prescription so yes, I got what I needed.
Janis: I did not take any.
Anna: I didn't have to take any medications.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Lena: They would call you out and you'd go down to the window where they would hand you the pill and watch you swallow it. Then back to your cell.
Janis: I did not take any meds in jail, but those that did would get their meds at pill call which had scheduled intervals throughout the day.
Anna: Well I didn't have to take medication. But a nurse would come in to my cell block. The inmates that had to take their medication would go see her.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Lena: I never saw that but I'm guessing they would eithe put you in solitary. We were already on lock down so I'm not sure how much worse it could have gotten.
Janis: Extra charges for all parties involved when the drugs were found to be brought in. I never witnessed the actual punishment for drug abuse, but I would imagine solitary, or the hole.
Anna: I believe the inmates would be taken to the hole. I never witnessed anybody getting in trouble for this. But I did hear about it from other inmates.
