Visitor Policy

Interview with Ralph, Rachel, Fred, Craig and Joe

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Ralph: you can have visitors every weekend
Rachel: I never wanted any, i was too ashamed. I did t pay attention to the schedule
Fred: i believe visitors were welcome once a week, of course they would have to call and setup an appt..
Craig: Im not entirely sure, but I belive it was either once or twice a week.
Joe: I didnt receive any visitors except from an attorney, they are allowed to see you physically. I believe for fmily and friends they either need to call in or setup a visit online, I believe it takes a week. I believe you are allowed two visits per week and those are done through videophones.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Ralph: no
Rachel: Not sure
Fred: no not from what i understand, you make an appt and then sign a paper or waiver to see the inmate you either are behind glass or over an intercom via video screen
Craig: I didn't have any visitors, so I can't say for sure. I don't get visits while Im in jail. Alright! 6 words left! Woo hoo!
Joe: I believe it was lengthy. When I had several visits from my attorney, he said that it took him the better part of an hour for them to get me in there.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Ralph: through a tv monitor, so not very good
Rachel: They are on monitors. No physical contact, very impersonal
Fred: the visiting environment was actually right outside the pod that i was currently in so i really dont have an opinion of it. Other then it was over video and not in person so that was kind of hard to accept because its like your a danger or risk no matter what u did to get in there in the first place.
Craig: So now I gotta write 50 words about a visiting area I didn't visit because I didn't have any visitors, and this survey has no default option to take into consideration that someone who was once incarcerated may NOT have had any visitors during their time being locked up. *sigh*
Joe: There is no visiting area setup for inmates to meet physically with their friends or relatives. The room on the videophone appears to be sufficient and you are allowed 2 or 3 visitors at a time. You will have to communicate with them through a video phone. It is very impersonal and your conversation is monitored.
