Inmates

Interview with Ben and Katrina

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Ben: Not really. I guess I got along with everybody.
Katrina: I was the type of person who got along with everybody. You just got to know who you can associated with. You either fit in or your don't.If you got roommate who has been there awhile they might take you around and introduce which always helps.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Ben: Bascially don't get into gambling, don't get into major basketball games. That's where trouble can start.
Katrina: Stay out of people's way. Over there everything is one video except in the rooms. If you mind your own business and don't smart off you'll be okay. Sometimes somebody is having a bad day and you say something stupid and trouble starts. Just mind your P's and Q's

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Ben: No. You got assigned to a bunk and that's the one you had to take
Katrina: Sometimes they would let you transfer around if you knew someone. Depending on the situation. Also if you got into fights with your roommate they could move them out. I did that once to kick them out.
