Medications

Interview with Louisa

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Louisa: I had an initial physical, and they discovered I had high blood pressure. It costs $5 to go to medical, and prescriptions are $2 a piece. I got a sinus infection and was prescribed 3 different prescriptions. It's quick but they charge you for everything. I don't blame them for charging for medical care. If you don't have money they will still take care of you, but it will put a negative balance on your account. So if anyone ever puts money on your account, the money will go to that first.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Louisa: Nurse came by in the mornings with a medical cart. You line up. They check your mouth to make sure you had swallowed it. Also in evenings.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Louisa: They would get written up. Going to lock down.
