Closing Advice

Interview with PJ, Katherine, Jimmy, Baldy, Max, Karen, Richard and Danielle

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
PJ: Send cards and letters to help pass the time
Katherine: Jail is nothing fun. ITs an absolutly nasty and i mean nasty place. And you might want to write letters and visit them as often as you can because it gets extremly lonely in there. I didnt have any mail or visits for 402 days. And even though the phone bill might go through the roof, let them call too. Even if you seen Tv shows about jail, Trust me, Its nothing like that, ITs worse. And if you can send them some money for commissary because even though you get 3 meals a day its not much food. Give them a little extra so they can buy some so they dont stay hungary like I did.
Jimmy: write notes and visit alot
Baldy: write letters, uplifing letters, send pictures if you can, dont send no bad news, its all depressing enough in here.
Max: The guards are all corupt! Don't say anything, don't hear anything, don't see anything. You are treated less humane than a dying animal
Karen: Dont do anything to get in there, really by experience as well as hearing others its the most crooked worst jail in the state
Richard: i would tell them just to find activities to keep them occupied and to keep themselves in shape by working out or playing chess or cards or watching television at times
Danielle: to avoid it like the plague. it gets worse and worse every time i go. i know a few people there now and its a hell of alot worse now than it was when i was ther in 2010

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
PJ: no
Katherine: All i can say is please keep your head up because you dont stay in jail forever. Thats what i thought at first but i got through it. And its not worth getting into a fight in there unless you want to spend most of your time in a 6x9 room and its a small room,.
Jimmy: stay out of trouble in the first place
Baldy: yes, dont try to escape, its almost impossible.
Max: Transfer out of Sharpes at all costs
Karen: pray, stay to yourself, and be sure you have someone on the outside to contact because those guards in there are crooked anything goes
Richard: same as previous question pretty much, find activities to keep them occupied, keep in shape by working out or walking or jogging, chess, cards television or just trying to sleep alot for the most part
Danielle: to wear 2 white tshirts, underwear, socks and boxers when they go. make sure you have money saved to go with and make sure you have someone sending you icares packs so you can have your coffee

JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to.
Karen: none
Richard: orient road jail,tampa florida
Danielle: lowell correctional institute gadsden correctional facility
