Interview with mitchell, Stewart, Adam, Jeffrey, Brent and Daryll

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
mitchell: jumpsuits and flip flops
Stewart: all clothing was issued by the jail at intake and you kept those articles of clothing for your entire stay
Adam: everyone wore the underwear and socks that they were wearing when arrested..if they weren't wearing any then they had to underwear or socks unless ordered from commissary
Jeffrey: every thing that you had to wear was issued by the jail no outside clothing permitted
Brent: there were no outside clothes allowed in this jail. every thing was issued to you at booking
Daryll: there were no outside clothing allowed, every thing you wore was issued by the jail

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
mitchell: no
Stewart: colored jumpsuits, white boxers and white sox and shower slides is what you were givin to wear when you went through the intake process. green jump suits or yellow ones and I think they identified what part of the jail you were housed in. there were also red and orange jumpsuits for confinement and escape risk
Adam: all the inmate wore a green jumpsuit and a pair of plastic flops. they inmate workers that were inside only wore solid orange jumpsuits and the inmate workers that could go outside wore the old style striped pants and shirts
Jeffrey: nasty socks and boxers with holes and permanently stained grey and also one piece jump suits that were of varied colors but all the clothing was old and worn out
Brent: socks with holes, dirty filthy stained t shirts and boxers and one piece jump suits that were torn stained patched and itchy, no shoes, just shower slides
Daryll: we had jump suits to wear and shower slides. also boxers and socks were issued but I avoided wearing any of that because they were stained and torn

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
mitchell: yeah you had to try to find one that the buttons stayed closed on
Stewart: no not really except you would try to get stuff that was not in disrepair
Adam: only two items assigned. wasn't that big of an issue
Jeffrey: there was not anything different about the clothes except for the color of the jumpsuits
Brent: yeah, clothing that didn't have holes or stains but we did not pick our clothes, they just handed you whatever
Daryll: when they did jump suit exchanges twice a week every one tried to get one that was not torn up and missing buttons

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
mitchell: no
Stewart: women were not in this jail they were housed in the jail around the corner
Adam: they clothing wasn't different at all
Jeffrey: there were no women in the jail where I was
Brent: there were no women in the jail where I was they were in the other jail
Daryll: did not see women, they were in a different jail
