Visitor Policy

Interview with Mary

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Mary: We were only allowed to have visitation once a week. Our visits were 2 hours long.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Mary: The check-in process wasn't lengthy. They just had to show their ID and make sure they were on my visitation list. The wait time until visitation took forever because they had to be checked in by 11:30 and visitation didn't start until 1:00.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Mary: We were in the same room, so that was good. Inmates were on one side of glass, and visitors were on the other. We had to speak through a telephone, which didn't always get good reception. It was loud because all the other inmates were in the same room with you.
