Inmates

Interview with Hillary and Leslie

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Hillary: No. That county is rather small, considering, so a lot of the people tend to know people you know or may be related to you.
Leslie: I really did not have much of a problem with anyone. I mean come on we are all in the same situation here.If you can block out what some of the fools are saying or doing your good

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Hillary: In most cases, the fights were based on previous things that happened on the outside. If you don't have a reputation on the streets you're good. Don't run your mouth.
Leslie: like I said keep to yourself and try to block out what the big mouths are saying and doing. another thing is not to get giant commissary every week, those others get jealous and will either beat you or steal it.Everyone there is in the same situation. no one wants to be there some handle it better tha others

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Hillary: No.
Leslie: Oh god no. if you ask to be with someone they would make sure you weren't .Any way they are dormitory style at santa rosa. something like 16 beds in an open area
