Visitor Policy

Interview with Kandra and Paul

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Kandra: I believe that in general inmates can receive visitors seven days a week during specified times. However, it is only by video, not in person.
Paul: once a week for 40 minutes and it as to be pre appoved on the internet at the jail website

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Kandra: Yes, I was told that it was pretty lengthy and invasive as well. Some of the things had to be handled via the internet before any visitations could take place. Not so for attorneys.
Paul: no, they were video visits, you just have to be pre approved and signed up for a certain time slot then you just go into the room and sit in front of the screen till the inmate comes on

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Kandra: I did not receive any visitors at Atlanta City Jail however, I did have a visitor when at Fulton County Jail and it was only by video conference were we allowed to talk to each other. I sat in a booth and waited for the monitor to come on. I wasn't told how it worked so it was a bit frustrating.
Paul: your at a monitor on the floor, the visitor is in a room and in front of a tv screen with a phone, you can have 4 people at your screen, it was very noisy and no privacy, the guard comes by and watches the screen sometimes, you can see other inmates behind your inmate listening to him talk
