Interview with Harry, Qtip, Hanna, DoneMyTime, Linda, Missy, Josh, Alex, Gary, Charlie, Melissa, Harley, Billy and Jimmy

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Harry: Playing spades or casino cards games. Checkers and newspapers and some books.
Qtip: none u stayed in ur pod 24/7
Hanna: They didn't provide any type of entertainment for you, that was your job. A lot of people bought playing cards from the store to help pass the time. The also made there own bingo cards and pieces.
DoneMyTime: not a lot in the pod I was in. there is a waiting list to watch television. I did not bother. you can go to room like a library with out dated books
Linda: LAW LIBRARY,CHURCH.
Missy: NONE ASIDE FROM CHURCH AND G.E.D. CLASSES.
Josh: Essentially none. Every few days, one could go to the "exercise yard" which was essentially an open air concrete basketball court. If one applies, a GED course and AA meetings are available.
Alex: Television, a deck of cards, checker boards.
Gary: AA Church
Charlie: There were none available. We were supposed to be allowed one hour a day out on the yard, which was about a 50x50 foot piece of concrete with 20 foot tall brick walls around it, and chain linked fence over the top of it. The yard time was all based on the guards that were working that day though. Sometimes we would not even be allowed to go out.
Melissa: I do not know this information. I can say though that there was a television and cards in our pod. The only channel displayed is CNN.
Harley: reading lookin at tv playing cards , sleep alot really nothing just sit there and time go by slow each and everyday seem long like your never going too get out of jail ... thats not cool at all seem like all your time is gone ... time time time

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Harry: There was usually someone wanting to play a game of cards. Most of the time you try to sleep off your time.
Qtip: there was only cards so lol i guess not
DoneMyTime: nothing worth entertaining
Linda: WHAT ENTERTAINMENT. THE CLOWNS I WAS LOCKED UP WITH OR THE GUARDS.
Missy: THE ONLY ENTERTAINMENT WAS READING THE NEWSPAPER AND CERTAIN INMATES WOULD HIDE IT AND HOLD IT AS IF IT WAS THEIRS.
Josh: No. Jail is incredibly boring.
Alex: There was no competition. Aside from available items being easy to share, attitudes among people around me were pretty lax.
Gary: No
Charlie: There was one TV in the dorm, but that was about the only type of entertainment and the guards were the only ones with access to changing the channel and adjusting the volume. Other than that, you had to buy your own deck of cards if you wanted them, chess pieces were removed from the jail while I was there because someone got stabbed with one of the pieces.
Melissa: I do not know this information.
Harley: no i didnt what ever is on tv u have too look at it if there playin cards u have too wait in line for every little thang time was going slow just sittin there waitin on everythang.. not good at all time slow... just waitin on time too go
Billy: NO THE PHONES THEY CUT THEM ON WHEN THERE READY SMAE WITH THE TV HAD TOO WAIT TILL EVERTHING IS CHECKED THEN THEY COME AROUND AND CUT THEM ON WHEN EVER THERE READY FOR US TOO LOOK AT TV OR GET ON THE PHONE ON THERE ON TIME THAT WAS NOT KOOL AT ALL

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Harry: No every morning I would do 100 pushup and 100 sit-ups. I would also walk a circle around the pod to get exercise.
Qtip: nope the food sucks and they dont have sugar i actually lost weight
Hanna: yes, I did. The food is nasty and absolutely horrible for your health so it certainly helps you put on weight. I tried to walk circles around the POD to get some exercise, and do pull ups on the back of the stairs, but they would yell at us a lot if we were doing to much.
DoneMyTime: somewhat
Linda: NO
Missy: YE,BECAUSE YOU ARE IN A LITTLE SPACE ALL DAY WITH NOTHING TO DO BUT EAT,SLEEP OR TALK ON THE PHONE.
Josh: Yes. If innovative, one can exercise, but not nearly as effective as outside of jail.
Alex: No.
Gary: Nope
Charlie: Yes, I had a very hard time staying in shape. Mainly because I was trying to stay to myself most of the time to stay out of trouble.
Melissa: I do not know this information.
Harley: yes i will eat not work out at all just getting big eatin sleep and just waitin on time too pass by
Billy: YES I DO ALL I DID WAS EAT BUT I DID ALOT OF WALKING AROUND IN THE JAIL THATS ABOUT IT
Jimmy: yes all i di was eat, sleep sum times work out so i got real little in the jail so not good too me

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Harry: Once a week depending on the weather and or if they thought we should be let outside. It was up to the jailers.
Qtip: once a week if we was lucky
Hanna: Maybe once a week if we were lucky. It always depended on how the jailers where feeling that day.
DoneMyTime: none
Linda: ONCE A WEEK
Missy: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OUTSIDE IN COBB COUNTY JAIL YOU ARE TRANSPORTED FROM AN INSIDE CAGE TO AN OUTSIDE CAGE REVEALING NOTHING BUT THE SKY.
Josh: Maybe a few times per week for one hour at a time.
Alex: A few times.
Gary: Maybe once a month
Charlie: We were supposed to be allowed one hour a day out on the yard, which was about a 50x50 foot piece of concrete with 20 foot tall brick walls around it, and chain linked fence over the top of it. The yard time was all based on the guards that were working that day though. Sometimes we would not even be allowed to go out.
Melissa: I do not know this information.
Harley: never when outside they wait let us going out ... only time u went outside is too go too court and back in after that..
Billy: NEVER WHEN OUTSIDE THEY TOLD US WHEN CANT GO SO WE WALK AROUND THE JAIL AND WORK OUT TOO SO THATS HOW WE DID THAT
Jimmy: no outside but i did work out around the jail thats they only work out u can do in there and eat eat , sleep all day thats what i did

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Harry: Yes church service was held in the pod usually by someone with faith in God. There are a lot of black people with a lot of faith in god that would run these services.
Qtip: yes it was very nice
Hanna: Yeh i believe they did, but only five people could go from each POD, and that is if you were lucky too. It was technically the first 30 people who went out into the hallway that got to go to church.
DoneMyTime: i am not sure. we had our own bible study and you can get visits from the Chaplain
Linda: HELD IN THE HALLWAYS. IT DEPEND ON WHAT TYPE OF SERVICE.IT COULD BE SUN ,TUES,ECT.THREE
Missy: YES,THEY WERE ALRIGHT BUT DIDN'T REALLY GIVE YOU THAT TRUE HOLY GHOST FEEL.
Josh: Yes, but I did not observe any services.
Alex: Church services were available. I declined to attend any.
Gary: yes
Charlie: Yes, they offered church services to Christians and Muslims. I don't know what they were like because I do not apply to either religion.
Melissa: I do not know this information.
Harley: yes thaey did u have too sign up for that sometime they want let u go at all... not cool
Billy: YES BUT U HAVE TOO SIGN UP AND SOME DAYS THEY NEVER CAME AND GOT UP SO THEY COME WHEN THEY WANT TOO
Jimmy: yes u had too sign up then they come and get u when there ready too come they take all day
