Meals

Interview with Harry, Qtip, Hanna, DoneMyTime, Linda, Missy, Josh, Alex, Chrissy, Gary, Charlie, Melissa, Harley, Billy and Jimmy

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Harry: We had three meals a day.
Qtip: 3
Hanna: 3
DoneMyTime: 3
Linda: THREE IF YOU'ER COUNTING THE LUNCH THAT YOU RECEIVE WITH BREAKFAST. YOU EAT BREAKFAST ABOUT 7- 8AM AND THAT'S WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOU COLDCUT SANDWHICH FOR LUNCH.
Missy: 3.
Josh: 3. Breakfast at approximately 6:30 a.m., lunch at approximately noon and dinner at approximately 6:30 p.m. Inamtes regularly engage in trading food from the meals. Beverages tend to be powder mix (like Kool-Aid) to which sink water is added. The lunch meal is always a sandwich.
Alex: Three.
Chrissy: 3 TIMES A DAY
Gary: 3
Charlie: 3 meals per day is what we got.
Melissa: I only received breakfast at 6AM and lunch I believe at 12PM. I do know dinner is served at 6PM.
Harley: 3 meals a day cold food
Billy: 3 MEAL A DAY THAT WAS NOT GOOD
Jimmy: 3 meals each day nasty

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Harry: Worse than old school food we used to have to eat.
Qtip: on a scale 1 - 10 maybe a 4 or 5
Hanna: Worse then the worst school cafeteria food you have had. They must have out MSG in the food as well because you got a little dinner and were extremely bloated right after. So Im sure it was added to make the inmates feel full. You were starving at least 30 minutes after you ate!
DoneMyTime: scale 1-5 it would rate a 2
Linda: ON A SCALE 1-5.I'LL HAVE TO GIVE IT A 1.
Missy: TERRIBLE.
Josh: Poor.
Alex: The food was pretty good. A few things served to me were not appealing. However, for the most part, I can only complain that the meals were too small and left me hungry.
Chrissy: BEST OF ALL COUNTIES
Gary: blah
Charlie: I would rate it very poor, because not only was it hard to eat because I am a vegan and they made me eat meat, but I was always hungry after every meal, the food never gave me any energy and actually felt like it was draining me of energy when I ate it, and it even made me sick a few times.
Melissa: I found it gross. It was the worst food I have ever had in my life. I ate a pack of sealed crackers at lunch time and sealed cookies. I didn't eat my sandwich. I gave it away. For breakfast I only ate the grits and I don't even like grits. They were the only thing that tasted real. The presentation of the food just did not entice me to even try it.
Harley: food it not good, it be cold nasty hard they feed u anythang . they dont care if u dont eat.. food be wet i gave my food away but u can order store not much its better then the food they give u too eat the 3 meals.... anyday
Billy: NOT GOOD AT ALL COLD AND WET, IT ALL WAS NASTY BUT WE HAD TOO EAT IT , KNOW SEASONIN AT ALL AND THEY FEED US WHEN THEY GOT READY TOO IT TOOK ALL DAY LONG FOR WAS SUPER COLD AND WET NASTY THATS ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT THE FOOD
Jimmy: nasty not good at all cold, wet, nasty sum times hard cant get it at all i had too wait on my store too come i got real lil in jail didnt eat that nasty ass food at all sorry but it had me sick real bad thats was not good at all..

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Harry: No, I would eat enough to survive and give the rest away.
Qtip: least- fish fav-chicken
Hanna: The spicy "chicken" was okay, and the cereal in the morning. Those are the two safest things to eat. The fish and the sponge bob cake was absolutely disgusting!
DoneMyTime: no
Linda: COLD CERAL WAS MY FAVORIT.I DISLIKED EVERYTHING ELSE.
Missy: NO.
Josh: Bread.
Alex: My least favorite was the fish. It wasn't so much bad as it was bland. Literally void of flavor. The corn bread served with a few of my dinners was my favorite; it was possibly the best I've had.
Chrissy: LUNCH
Gary: breakfast
Charlie: My favorite meals were meals that I could not even get without trading someone that received a special meal. Other than that the only good food was food that you actually had to pay for.
Melissa: The sealed cracker/pretzel mix and the sealed cookies.
Harley: store only i dont have a fav meal in jail all the food is nasty ,cold, wet and not cooked all the way
Billy: NO FAV MEAL I LIKE WHEN THE STORE CAME EVERY WEEK I LIKE THAT BUT U HAVE TOO HAVE MONEY ON YOUR BOOKS
Jimmy: no fav meal at all,all of the meals was nasty and cold too me thats not fare at all too me

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Harry: Commissary was offered, you fill out a sheet of what snacks you want, then the following week you received the food. This was only available if you had money on your books.
Qtip: whatever u brought on commisary
Hanna: No, if you had a special diet, you got some fruit at lunch and at night. Or if you were pregnant or breast feeding. Other then that you could order food from the store once a week, with a $40.00 limit. That is if you had money on your books.
DoneMyTime: no, you have to purchase on sunday and get items the following week
Linda: STUFF THAT YOU COULD BUY ONCE A WEEK.
Missy: NO ASIDE FROM THE ONES YOU PAY FOR ON COMMESSARIE.
Josh: Commissary is available. and a Food Kit may be ordered for approximately $12.12. It contained 2 soups, small chips bag, tang, oreos, chocolate donuts, large BBQ chips bag, duplex cookies, jolly ranchers, large cheese crunch bag, carmel popcorn, honey bun and a Snickers bar. Must have money in the inmate's account for both.
Alex: We could purchase snacks. However, none were given.
Chrissy: NOPE
Gary: 45.00
Charlie: Commissary was very expensive, noodles that would normally only be like 3 for a dollar in the store were about $1.50 a piece in jail. A normal sized candy bar was about $4. Prices for everything were way too much and you were only allowed to spend $40 a week.
Melissa: I do not know this information.
Harley: yes u can order store if u got money on your books other then that no only jail food nasty and cold, wet the store comes every week know money know store thats how it works.
Billy: YES STORE CAME AROUND EVERY WEEK BUT U HAVE TOO HAVE MONEY ON YOUR BOOK AND STAY OUT OF FIGHTS . THEY COME ON TUESDAY TOO BRING U YOUR STORE THAT WAS COOL .... NICE
Jimmy: yes u get store every tuesday but u have too have money on your books too get store and stay away from any fights because u want get a chanes too get store.. not good
