Medications

Interview with Darrell

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Darrell: Yes, but you couldn't get them from the jailors, you had to get them from the nurse, in advance. And if she wasn't there that day (On the weekends and holidays), then you either went without or (If it was serious enough), they would take you to the county hospital. I took no meds, so it wasn't a problem for me. It cost 5$ for each medical request.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Darrell: I didn't. Like I said, I took no meds, and only saw the nurse for a short interview during booking.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Darrell: I never witnessed any, but one of the infractions (In the rule book), was for "misuse" of approved meds. For this you could lose your yard time, commisary, visitation, or any combination of the three.
