Clothing

Interview with Karen

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Karen: Scrubs, they couldn't be tight or too small.

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Karen: Yes I had a purple scrub uniform indicating I was a labor detail worker.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Karen: No. Everyone had to wear the same clothes, and sometimes it was difficult to get clean sheets and pillow cases when they did the bunk exchange.

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Karen: Yes the women in solitary confinement wore orange solid uniforms, the males in solitary confinement wore yellow uniforms, the women in regular cell 42 wore solid light blue uniforms, the males in regular cell wore solid red uniforms, and labor detail female inmates wore purple uniforms and the males wore white uniforms.
