Interview with Trisha, Jared and Lucia

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Trisha: Yes, they have pay phones. You can call collect and buy phone cards.
Jared: Yes but you had to have Mahoney to get a call.
Lucia: yes, after breakfast until ten at night

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Trisha: It was about $3 for a 30 minute phone call.
Jared: 5dollars for fifteen minutes and I would call like two to three times a day.
Lucia: i'd say that per week an average on phone calls would cost an inmate $20-$40 a week

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Trisha: Yes, you buy them off commissary.
Jared: Yes there was no other way.
Lucia: i did not make very many phone calls, but they did use a system where people were able to.

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Trisha: They always listen to your phone calls. All your phone calls are recorded. I got a criminal charge because of a recorded phone call I made from the jail.
Jared: Yes they said if they wanted to they can.
Lucia: i never heard if they did but it was told to us that they would be
