Medications

Interview with Victor

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Victor: Yes they called meds like they called meals, three times a day. You always got your prescriptions and if you weren't feeling well you could request over-the-counter meds. If you were losing it and needed to talk to the psychiatrist you could get a prescription for whatever issue you were having by they made sure you weren't just trying to get high.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Victor: The med cart would come in early in the morning and if you needed something you would line up at the gate and request what you needed if you didn't already have a prescription.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Victor: No one ever got caught doing it. I would assume you'd go to seg if you were caught, because the only reason you would cuff your pills it would be to sell them to someone else so they could get high off of them. This only really happened with psych meds. If you were to get caught I would assume the hole would be the punishment, but you'd still get your medicine.
