Interview with Eric

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Eric: We had a gym so we could go a spend time to burn off all that exra stess we had. In the gym was wieghts, basketball, boxing, track. There was art classes were we paint and make leather belts. We also had a yard to play softball, basketball and handball.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Eric: The only entertainment was the tv in the day room. Yes there was ompetition. But most times it came down to a vote. But if there was tension in the air , the guards would not turn on the tv. That happened alot in the count jail. Almost every other day.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Eric: No. If you couldn't get to the gym or yard, you could always to push-up, and lift buckets of water.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Eric: In the county, we only went out twice a wekk. But in prison we went out often. We could lift weights, play basketball, football and track.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Eric: Yes the was church. We also had bible class. We went church on sunday and bible class on a wensday.
