JM: Which jail did you visit?
Mary: Lake County IL
Jen: Lake County Jail, Waukegan Il

JM: How long ago was your visit?
Mary: Friday 6/29 and Saturday 6/30
Jen: October 2012

JM: How many times did you visit?
Mary: I have been visiting since April
Jen: 1

JM: How do you go about making an appointment to see an inmate?
Mary: No appointment, I just walk in during visiting hours (work release side)
Jen: Once you walk in you will stand in a line. Once you reach the booth where the officers are you are to hand them your ID and let them know the last and first name of the person you are visiting.

JM: How long did check-in process take?
Mary: Depends on the guard, some are quick some take their time
Jen: Approx. 5 min

JM: Were the guards accommodating?
Mary: Yes most of the time
Jen: Yes, older woman was very nice :)

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Mary: The environment is fine, mostly just chairs for waiting
Jen: You are placed in a room with a window inbetween the prisoner and the visitor, I couldnt hear too well through the speaker holes. other than that... pretty plain.

JM: How long was your visit? Did the guards ever allow you to take extra time?
Mary: Visits are 30 minutes, we have been given extra time before. The guard told me some do that if the last visiting group isn't too large.
Jen: I honestly do not know. I believe 30 min, but then again no one had a watch.

JM: What was the parking situation like?
Mary: Parking is easy, never an issue for me
Jen: Plentiful parking spaces

JM: What advice would you offer to somebody who is going to visit an inmate in this jail?
Mary: Be patient, sometimes you have to wait a bit but overall it isn't too bad
Jen: I would recommend that you have your ID and a quarter when you go. I did not know that you cannot bring your purse, cell, car keys, or hoodies when visiting. I ended up leaving after they gave me my badge to go to McDonalds to get a coffee and some change.
