Interview with Seth, Clark and Lisa

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Seth: none they did that in the 90's then you could wear in all white underclothes but they stopped that to now you buy them from them
Clark: Certain types of underwear and socks they would allow you to keep if you had them on already. The underwear had to be all-white and so did the socks.
Lisa: We were only allowed white underwear and white socks white bras. The bras could not have underwires

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Seth: you had a florescent orange jump suit that said " ALLEN COUNTY JAIL " and cheap plastic shower shoes you have to buy socks and boxers and t-shirts all white
Clark: The assigned 'uniform' was just an all orange jail jumpsuit, pretty standard. Some were velcro and some were button up, all one piece. These were the only clothing items actually issued to an inmate, along with a pair of very flimsy and cheap flip flops. If one did not have any other clothes, they would just be wearing a jail jumpsuit and flip flops.
Lisa: we hard dark blue we had a top and a bottum. The top was short sleved and did have a pocket. The pants were elastic

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Seth: not in allen county no just order your jumpsuit one size to big
Clark: Not really, the assigned clothes were just the aforementioned jump suit and flip flops. If you wanted anything else you had to buy it with your own commissary money. Examples of clothes one could buy are: Long sleeve thermal shirts/pants, sweat pants, sweat shirt, white t shirt, orange t shirt, some shoes.
Lisa: Yes clean pants. Women need to have clean pants. Other women wear those. And they don't provide paties

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Seth: men had the orange jumpsuit the women had dark blue shirt and pants
Clark: When I was at the jail facility I only encountered the women inmates on a handful of occasions as they were mostly kept pretty separate. They seemed to be wearing the same types of clothing that the men had access to.
Lisa: Yes we had blue and the men had orange jumpsuits
