Interview with Viktor, Veronica and Paula

JM: How many different blocks were there?
Viktor: It's hard to say. When you first come in they keep you isolated waiting on classification. The jail in Gardner is confusing , I think intentionally so. Olathe is set up with I think 2 pods on each floor. Being farmed out to Osage and Chase Counties, those jails are different too, but easier to figure out where you are.
Veronica: Minimum Security Medium Security Maximum Security that's all
Paula: there are 4 floors in the jail. But only 2 floors are for females.

JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they?
Viktor: I forget.
Veronica: no names for these pods. that the different classifactions there were
Paula: A pod, B pod C pod D pod. or you could be in medical.

JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks?
Viktor: The women are housed in Olathe. Also maximum security for the men.
Veronica: maximum inmates like murders. those kind of people. medium were people that like to fight a lot or different crimes. Minimum were people that never got in trouble in jail. and petty crimes.
Paula: Well you also had your custody levels. Maximum security is the worse then medium security the miniman security. MaX IS FOR LIKE bad crimes. murder, Battery. Medium is for like fighting , drugs. Minimum is everything else.

JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks?
Viktor: Some you are alone most of the day in a cell. Others are open, and you can interact with the other inmates all day, watch TV, play games, read, etc.
Veronica: They are basically all the same. But maximum you was locked down 22 hrs. a day medium was locked down 18 hrs. a day and that was hard. but if you did crimes you knew there is a chance of going to jail and its set up to be hard so hopefully you don't come back.
Paula: The worse your security level is the more you would be locked down. Like medium you are locked down 18 hours aday. Maximum your locked down in your cell 22 hrs. aday. But your alone. No Tv no radio. No one to talk to it sucks bad. Minimum your out with other people a lot of the time.
