Pre-sentencing

Interview with Tony

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Tony: My legal case lasted three years. Eventually took a plea bargain versus a trial. The attorneys for both sides met with the judge numerous times to "iron" out an appropriate sentence Often had to stay in court the entire day even if my case took ten minutes. The system is so overcrowed we all become victims of some sort

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Tony: Yes, in October 2010 the state police came to my home and and asked many questions, they did not arrest me. They interviewed me (interogated) me for three hours until they had all the information they needed. They said I would not be arrested and they were only there to gather info

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Tony: Approximately 30 court appearances over three years. Many were for different hearings. Every session was nerve wracking and stressful since I never knew what decisions would be made. Most times the attorneys did a lot of talking and I was an silent observer. I never missed sessions in three years

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Tony: Orig...larceny convicted of larceny over $250
