Inmates

Interview with Grant, Will, Deshawn and Wes

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Grant: No, I was 40 years old at the time large frame well spoken and an unknown
Will: No, it depends on your age though. I am a little older than most inmates and kept to myself so they left me alone.
Deshawn: Of course I felt it difficult to get along with the other inmates, when you first go in your fresh meat! They want to test you to see if you fold, and you just got to step your ground and try not to fold. Other inmates no when you have fear in your eyes but if your from the streets you already no what to expect. I didn't go to jail when I had a scholarship to Yale or something. The streets was my college, my yale, my Harvard so I new what I was getting into if you live the street life.
Wes: not really because i knew most of them from the streets so i was ok

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Grant: basically I minded my own business did not gamble or try to be a Billy Bad Ass
Will: My main issue was that I am a "know it all" so needed to keep my mouth shut most of the time.
Deshawn: You can mind your own buisness but there is really nothing you can do to avoid fights in jail you have to fight or check in! Go to the pc unit protective custody unit where the scum goes, snitches, fags, and chid molesters. There is one thing you don't want to do is get labeled your stay will be hell.
Wes: jus be you and mind your own buisness.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Grant: No, your cellmates initially are random however once you been assigned to a unit changes could be made
Will: NA (I did not know any other inmates so could not tell you either way)
Deshawn: In the beginning it's a little hard because you just came in and the c.o's don't no you much. As time goes by and the c.o's get to see how you move in the unit if your not a big trouble maker sometimes you can switch rooms.
Wes: i chose my cousin as my roommate but i have had like 6 roommates in a month time
