Inmates

Interview with Clinton and Brooke

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Clinton: In general, no,not really.
Brooke: Yes. I found it Highly difficult to "get along" people were drug addicts and drug dealers and crazy people. I couldn't relate with anyone. It was like waking up each day and having to learn how to get along all over.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Clinton: You basically kind of mind your own business, be polite, don't run your mouth for no reason. If you have some etiquette it isn't usually that bad.
Brooke: Stay in my cell. Eat with the big black girls and trade my bread and meat for protection. I also would think constantly about what could happen and what I would do in that certain situation. You always have to be ready because everyone plays dirty. One thing I wasnt used to .

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Clinton: No.
Brooke: Cell mates didn't change at all unless your life was in danger. Or you are a danger to others. The jail chooses your inmates. They have no discrepancies as to who they put together. Computer generated.
