Medications

Interview with Rachel, Paula and Lindsey

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Rachel: NO. AGAIN, COMMISSARY FOR ASPIRIN. I DID NOT GET MY PRESCRIPTION MEDS UNTIL I WAS SEEN BY THE DR - SEVERAL DAYS.
Paula: Yes any and all prescribed medications were made available to you
Lindsey: Yes always had access to any medications that I needed. It would be the generic brand but yea it was available.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Rachel: THEY WOULD CALL YOUR NAME OUT AT 4:30 IN THE MORNING AND YOU WERE EXPECTED TO WAKE UP FROM A SOUND SLEEP, QUICKLY, AND GET THEM HANDED TO YOU AT THE DOOR OF THE CELL.
Paula: "Pill Call" was made 4 times a day and your medication was dispenced by the on staff registered nurse and monitored by a correction officer
Lindsey: Inmates would get their medications through the same hole that we got our food from. And the time you get your meds would depend on the instructions for that specific medication.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Rachel: DIDN'T DO IT, DON'T KNOW.
Paula: If you got caught "cheeking" medication(s) you were immediately written up and placed in administrative segregation. I witnessed this on many occassions
Lindsey: No I never witnessed anyone sneaking drugs in there or cigarettes. The punishment most likely would have been a long while in solitary.
