Good Behavior

Interview with Christian and Claire

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Christian: Yes, I got out in 8 months and 18 days. I got a lawyer that helped me get out early. It varies whether people get out early.
Claire: yes, but only 30days, and it was because my lawyer worked it out so that I was given time served for the time I was waiting for a court date.

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Christian: It depends on your sentence, your lawyer or your crime. They do give good time because of overcrowding.
Claire: 90days, and that's if you work in the Kitchen or Laundry inside the jail.

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Christian: The only reason I got out early was because my celly's mom paid for a lawyer who got me out. Part of the deal was, if I get out, I never go back. I got out and I never went back. I went to college and everything, got a medical assistant degree.
Claire: you have to be fired from your job detail, and yes I have witnessed this happen quite often, women get into a lot of gossip as I said before and when it comes to holding a job in county jail, you can not be involved in gossip. The Correctional officers in there know everything. the whole entire day room is monitored.
