Interview with April
JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
April: It was very difficult to get along with those
women. they acted horribly. there was bi sexual
stuff going on, fighting, stealing, screaming. it
was very bright and loud there
JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
April: to avoid any problems i asked to stay in isolation
for the whole time i was there. I was placed in a
room all by myself and i wasnt allowed to leave
the room. not even for meals. all my food was
brought to me. it was peaceful and quiet
JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
April: you dont choose anything in there. you do not have
the freedom of choice. everyone is assigned a room
and you stay there until you are released. the
turnaround there was pretty often since it was a
petty crime jail.
