Meals

Interview with Kathy, Cameron, Norm, Arturo and Isidra

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Kathy: we got 3 meals a day plus they gave us a snack
Cameron: we got 3 meals a day
Norm: 3 meals served each day
Arturo: we were given 3 meals per day
Isidra: We received 3 meals a day

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Kathy: I would rate the food as out of 10 I would give it 7 at times and 9 at other times, as the food was either cold or not tasteful, the drinks were warm at times then real cold at other times, you get what they give you if you like it or not
Cameron: for the most part it sucked it's thrown on a tray it's cold and messy there is no care in prepping the food even the inmates that work in the kitchen seem not to care about how they handle the food it's a shame how they do people or should I say how they let them do the food
Norm: The food was a 5 out of 10. Breakfast was cereal and juice with milk and bread too. It was the same cereal you get at any discount grocery store. Lunch was always a pb&j sandwich or a turkey based cold cut sandwich. Each lunch included a fruit, lettuce, milk, a side usually a cookie or chips. Sometimes the lunch would be hard boiled eggs or cheese sandwiches. Most lunches were not very filling. Every wednesday included chocolate milk for lunch. Dinners were usually a type of stew or simple meals like beef ravoli, pizza, or hot dogs. The big meal of the week was always sundays. Also dinner was served with fruit drink and a dessert of cookies or jello.
Arturo: breakfast was a milk juice half bowl of cereal, lunch was 3 ounces of protein lettuce no dressing and 2 slices of bread or a bun, dinner was much the same except for sunday when dinner was a bit more protein and starch but not much else no dessert of any kind
Isidra: I would rate the food a 5 it wasn't truly all disgusting but it wasn't grwat either. It was pretty bland. Only thing I kind of lijed was the hot pockets tge chicken patties and the good cereal. Oh I loked tge eggs and I liked the salad too. !

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Kathy: I liked the morning meals and the least was the lunch meals they were out of 10 I would say 10 as bad
Cameron: it's all the same to me I eat to survive no more no less I nave no favorites in there
Norm: Favorite meals were the peanut butter and jelly or cheese lunches because those could be saved to later meals. Sunday dinners of chicken, meatloaf, or roast beef were good. Least favorite was the bologna and any one of the many stew based dinners.
Arturo: it was hard to mess up breakfast the pasta was the worst it was always mushy and no real taste
Isidra: Yes I liked the salad I liked tge eggs I liked tge chicken patties. Liked meatliaf. I liked hot pockets and I liked tge cereal

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Kathy: Yes there was other snacks offered like apples, yogurt, pudding, cookies, little things like that, but nothing like icecream, but we did get orange juice, or some kind of juice instead of just water, which was good
Cameron: the only snacks your going to get is from commissary and they over charge you for everything it's done on a computer and they bring it to you the next day but if you order and get bailed out they don't want to give you your money back
Norm: No snacks were offered by the jail. Commissary was delivered and ordered twice a week. Snacks on commissary included chips, cookies, candy, bagels, honey buns, and other cheap gas station style snacks. The basic noodle only cost 30 cents and most products were 50 cents to a 1.20 on the top end. Very reasonable prices except for the radios, headphones, and hygiene products.
Arturo: snacks were only available if you had money to buy candy bars were a dollar twenty five ramin noodles were thirty cents bags of chips a dollar I think it was expensive to buy what was offered
Isidra: Yeah they offered a variety of chips. They had dip cheese on tge lust. Pastries. Cakes. Umm they had candy. Um candy popcorn. We had oat meal and noodles. What else umm oh chocolate and the food was ridiculously expensive
