JM: How many meals did you get per day? Sarah: 3 Sam: 3. Corey: 3 meals a day. ! Emma: We were given three meals a day. Jeff: we got one for each time of day. morning at 7am
lunch at 11ish and dinner at 430-5. the times
sucked by 8 you are starving. and if you don't
have money to buy food your gonna be hungry
JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why. Sarah: wouldn't Sam: Horrible. Corey: The food was for the most part soggy all the
time..or under cooked.
Very small portions. Sometimes milk would be
short so they would give us kool-aid for
breakfast. Weird how a facility couldnt keep up
with its food count.
hot meals were cold, and cold meals were dry.
they facility could use a better cook. Emma: The food was AWFUL. Full of enriched
carbohydrates, sugary treats, and processed
foods. It all looked like it was frozen, and put
in the microwave, then we ate it. Only white
bread was served, and they had the option for
healthy alternative, that were not any healthier
then the original food that was served. Butter
was served with the bread, only milk was given,
some days apple juice, and some other days, they
gave use some sugar packed fruit juice. The only
water we could get was the water from the
bathrooms. They did not give us cups, we HAD to
order the ramen noodles, and keep the Styrofoam
cup to put water from the bathroom sink in there. Jeff: -10 the food is horrible. really really bad. it
binds you up and you cant shit for days. it is
all processed food and it is really bad. I
choose not to eat that much and just order food
from commissary. not sure what else to tell you
guys sorry
JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals? Sarah: no Sam: I could stomach the chicken on Sundays. The worst
was rice with beans. Corey: no meal in jail/prison is a good meal.
If im not sitting down with my family to
eat..then theres nothing good about it. Emma: The chicken dinner was my favorite. It came with
a decent size piece of friend chicken, with
mashed potatoes, gravy, and a piece of bread with
butter. I never ate the bread. My least favorite
meal was this gunky soup they gave us on
Wednesdays. It was an odd combination of corn,
red sauce and green beans, with mashed tomatoes.
It tasted horrible, so I never ate Wednesday
nights. Jeff: NO. no favs and YES they all were my least favs.
If I had to choose cereal or pancakes and orange
juice
JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it? Sarah: no Sam: We could get commissary every other week. Corey: Commisary consisted of mostly sugar
products..cookies etc, being that Monroe County
Jail is not a cooking facility..everything is
packaged snacks..
not good for ones health to eat that all day.
No snacks where ever offered outside of
meals...that would have been a good thing. Emma: They gave us the option for commissary. Candy
bars, ramen noodles, tuna and salmon pouches,
hard candy-jolly ranchers, and other junk food
was offered. It was extremely over priced, but
many inmates spent their money on this garbage. Jeff: no snacks ever offered outside of the 3 meals.
why because they contract the kitchen and
commissary to Aramark. and those assholes are in
it for a profit. and the commissary prices are
fn ridiculous. a ramen noodle soup that costs 20
cents at the store is 75 cents through them.
they should be charged with over pricing
