Interview with Kristen, Grant and Enrique

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Kristen: cards
Grant: The pod has two levels of cells built around a common area in the middle where there are plastic tables and chairs where you eat, play cards. You can ask for books to read.
Enrique: no other facilites durham county jail is complete lockdown with only several minutes a day which served as leisure ,you had ascess to other media like books and magazines,but they had to be cleared by staff ion order to be permitted for inmates use,you passed time by reading bible or other books or by mediating

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Kristen: yes the tv
Grant: there is a tv set in the common area, the guards on duty decide what to watch
Enrique: only television,but no tv in cells alot of the tv was pre picked by stafff,no radio or other other forms of entertainment.,beside s playong cards or checker or chess,competion was always fierce ,guys are competitive and love any types of competion,but once a arguments starts no more gamews are played for that day

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Kristen: no I don't exercise so it doesn't mater
Grant: no. you end up doing a lot of push ups and sit ups just for something to do
Enrique: no not really staying active keeps your mind off everything,pushups,situps and certain jail workouts are done by every inmate and done regularly

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Kristen: once a day
Grant: once a day, there is a small outdoor courtyard attached to each pod.
Enrique: WE WHERE NEVER ALLOWED TO GO OUTSIDE BECUSE OF SECURIOTY REASON S,,NO ONE BESIDES A JAIL trustee could even attempt to go outside ,no outside exercises

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Kristen: not while I was there, but would of liked it
Grant: Yes, but no set schedule. Held in a room attached to the pod
Enrique: the jail offered prayer on sundays and most other religious activites where done by inmates who practiced different forms,you had ,muslims,christians ,atheist,evrey denomination of religion
