Interview with Reggie, Sarah, Brenda, Mike and Will

JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)?
Reggie: Yoou wear what thy issue you to wear
Sarah: Cotton pull-on slacks, long-sleeve pull-on top, no buttons, underwear, socks, clogs, and a bag with a thin blanket, towel, wash cloth, change of clothes. No pillow. I used the bag for my pillow, and the wash cloth to cover my eyes from the bright lights 24 hours.
Brenda: you could wear you white sock and boxer and women could wear there pants and a wireless bra
Mike: you get 2 pairs of everything, on monday and you wear it all the way till sunday
Will: Nothing. We were issued everything that we were allowed to wear from boots, socks, underwear to hats and shirts.

JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you.
Reggie: You have 2 pair of boxers,2 pair of socks, 2 tee shirts. You receive 2 orange jumpsuits or a top and bottom orange and white stripped.
Sarah: The above pull-on slacks and top were grey with faint broad stripes.
Brenda: you had a orange jump suit that got wash once a week that it if you got sick you were made to wear it some office wouldn't let you change it
Mike: orange and white stripe shirt , and pants. orange socks and orange sandals, its a simple get up . i heard girls get grey and white here in wake county
Will: We all wore dark green pants and shirts. We had white socks and white under shirts with white canvas shoes and black steel toe boots for work crews.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Reggie: You would be lucky to get long johns because it was always cold.
Sarah: Not that I know of. It was all the same. Only choice is size. When I would take a shower, I would turn the clothes in at a window in the shower room and they would issue me a new set. Always the same.
Brenda: you size and if it clean and dont smell dirty
Mike: no. people said dont even waste your time looking. its overpriced.
Will: All the clothes were the same but when new clothes came in, you could pay the convict that ran the clothes house to get you all new stuff, mainly underwear, under shirts, and socks so you knew that a million other guys didn't wear the same stank ass clothes that you have on.

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Reggie: The women wear blue or sometimes orange and white stripes.
Sarah: Women have grey. I think men have orange.
Brenda: no just the trustee that it
Mike: just by colors nothing else
Will: There were no women convicts on the camp.
