Telephones

Interview with Cori and Grady

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Cori: We did have access to the telephones everyday only if we had a calling card or if we called someone that could accept collect calls.
Grady: yes

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Cori: The types of charges that applied for calling people was either collect calls or calling cards. If the person you were going to call didn't have collect calls allowed on their phone plan then they couldn't be called.
Grady: Way too much. Collect calls were 10 bucks for 15 minutes !

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Cori: Yes you did need phone calls if a person you was gonna call didn't have permission or collect calling allowed on there phone line.
Grady: yes

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Cori: Yes the jail screened every call.
Grady: yes
