Interview with Nicole, Toby, Donald, Manuel, Jimmie, Jack, David, Rhonda, Mike, Leo, Liz and Paul
JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior? Nicole: no. Toby: In the county if you are sentenced to county time
and work as a trustee you can receive two days
for every one day you serve. In prison, it is
based on a level system. When I was in it was
Levels 1-4 with level 1 being day for day, level
2 you received and additional 22 days for each
month you served, level 3 was 33 and level 4 was
44 day per month so at level 4 you would get 30
or 31 days plus your 44 to add up to 75 days
credit. If you get a misconduct report you go
down to level 1 and lose some days to boot as
well as commisary priveleges and TV etc.. Donald: I was only in there for a couple days so I was
good. Manuel: No but you do get 2 for 1 good days in tulsa for county time Jimmie: I was sent to federal prison they don't give you
good time for the time you are in jail Jack: No i did not get good behavior time while I was in. David: Yes I guess you could say I got released on good behaviour Rhonda: No Mike: I was released two months early on personal
recognizance. There were no early outs for good
behavior. The only outs in county jail were
overcrowding. Leo: yes Liz: no I did not get off early based on gooior.d behav
JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior? Nicole: not sure. Toby: That depends upon your sentence length. It
generally take 8 months to attain level 4 while
in prison and it is very easily lost with all the
bogus misconduct reports written. In my case, my
sentence was 10 years and I received credit for
time served in the county of a little over one
year then it took me 8 months to work up to level
4 "which is mandatory". While incarcerated I
receive 4 misconduct reports, 2 of which I beat
on appeal but the damage was already done because
they do not retroactively restore the days you
would have earned and it generally take around 6
months or so to beat a write-up.. All in all, on
a 10 year sentence, I served 5 1/2 years in
prison. Donald: I wasnt in there long enough to get points for
good behavior. Manuel: You can get 2 for 1 if you don't get in trouble or are a trustee Jimmie: federal inmates do 85 percent of there time. people
doing county time do get two for one on there good
time if they don't get in trouble Jack: They don't have good behavior time in Tulsa county. David: I do not no the anser to this? Rhonda: None Mike: You earn 1.5-2.0 days for each day served if you
are ambitious and become a "trustee". In order to
qualify as a trustee your CI (criminal index) has
to be below a level three. Level three and above
can work in various positions within the jail,
eg. chow hall and you earn 2 days for 1 time on
your sentence. You can essentially cut your time
in half on certain misdemeanor offenses. Felons
and believe it or not, child support cases are
not eligible for this incentive. Leo: depends on how many days they take from you Liz: I am not sure on how much time you can receive
off.
JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior? Nicole: smoking, sex, drugs, fighting. Toby: I will put it like Paul Harvey did.. If you want
to see the scum of the earth, go to any prison
parking lot at shift change... These people are
true scum. Most will write you up at the drop of
a hat out of spite because they know even if you
beat it on appeal which is hard, that the damage
is done and your time inside is extended by
default. They all lie and cover for each other
and you are nothing but a piece of shit number to
them. If you have money you can get them to bring
you almost anything into the prison and pretty
much all the female guards are screwing
inmates... trust me on this one.. Corrections
Officer N*m is doing time at Mabel Basset
(women's prison) right now because she worked at
Wackenhut (Lawton) and used to come in our pod
every night and screw 2 or 3 black guys. When she
was finally busted, she was found to have
intentionally been spreading aids. The
administration called for everyone and anyone
that had sex with her to report to medical for
screening and not to worry about rape charges.
(if you have sex with a guard you both get
charged with rape) Out of the 2600 inmate
population, around 700 black guys and several
punks (homosexuals) reported to medical for
screening. SO... Avoid getting caught up in the
prison mentality. Do not be a crash dummy for
anyone... Aryan Brotherhood are great at
recruiting crash dummies.
As far as seeing people lose time off for good
behaviour, I saw it every day. One incident
really sticks out. We were in the mess hall and
old Mr Sherfy walked with a cane and could not
carry his tray and his glass of tea so a newbie
(new to the yard.. he was a level 4 inmate)
carried his tea for him. A guard saw the noob
with two glasses of tea and wrote him up even
though he explained he was carrying it for Mr.
Sherfy. A glass of tea costs the state
approximately 1.5 cents and the guy that got
wrote up wound up losing 120 44 day per month for
the next 4 months totaling almost a full year
which according to the state costs them somewhere
around $65K to house and clothe and guard an
inmate (which is in itself another story of more
corruption and funny book keeping) You will
figure it out pretty quickly if you wind up going
to prison. Donald: I could of got additional charges if I acted
up.I kept to myself. That is how I stayed out of
trouble. It worked for me. Manuel: Don't fight with other inmates , don't argue with the guards
follow there rules and sign up for trustee the kitchen is good if
you are hungry the get extra food and yes a lot of people were
getting good time Jimmie: In David L Moss you get good time if you don't get
wrote up. In federal Prison you do 85 percent of
your time regardless if you get in a lot of trouble
you could do more but most everyone does 85 percnt Jack: You can be a trustee and get time off. It's
basically a 2 for 1 deal if your a trustee. But
not for good behavior.. Had to be a trustee David: Again I do not no the anser to this question ive ever
witnessed anything like time of for good behaviour just
never payed any, attention to it Rhonda: NO Paul: Disrespect, not being where your suppose to be, concept of
court Mike: No smoking probably number one. There are no
privileges given to smoke whatsoever. But inmates
are constantly breeching that rule. There are 25
rules posted on the wall in the pod and breaking
any of them can get you:
lockdown for 24-72 hours
canteen (food treats available to order) taken
away
Leo: just stay out of trouble we know right from
wrong. no
Liz: You need to avoid fights, altercations, arguments
and contriband in order to get time off. I never
witnessed any one losing time off for good
behavior.
