Medications

Interview with Lisa, Cindi, Holly and Ron

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Lisa: Yes, even though I was only there on the weekend, my medication was supplied. I was so grateful.
Cindi: You did, they were good about that. But sometimes it took a couple days after you first got housed to get them to you.
Holly: When I first got to the jail it took awhile for them to get my medications in, which was awful and I got headaches from not having them. I also wish they had vitamins available, which they do not.

JM: How did you get your medications?
Lisa: An officer called us up one at a time morning and evening.
Cindi: I did not take medications so I only know what I observed. Either they were delivered to the dorm or you were taken to medical to recieve them.
Holly: They were given twice a day in the morning and night and the nurse would come to the front of the cell block and had them to me after showing my id.

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Lisa: No idea
Ron: No come down pills
Cindi: You were taken to the hole and there was a shake down of the cell/dorm if drugs were supspected. Yes, one girl did get taken to the hole for that.
Holly: I never witnessed this, but there were rumors that suboxin had been brought into the cell because of the behavior of some of the women who were then taken to the 'hole'.
