Interview with Rachel

JM: Tell us about the pre-sentencing process:
Rachel: I was on a tv monitor and talking to the judge. My brother in law was also arrested and i guess he told the judge I was a drug addict. I told her I was not and she said "we'll see, 30 days" the jail i was at was full or something, so I did my 30 days in bedford jail.

JM: Did you have police stop by your house for questioning? If not please give us details on how you came to be arrested.
Rachel: no police came to my house, my brother in law and I were at a bingo game when we was arrested. I guess some people had went to volunteer at the bingo a couple of weeks ago and had stolen money. I didn't have any money on my person but some kind of trespassing.

JM: What was court like? Please give as many details as you recall.
Rachel: It was by tv monitor so I really don't remember to much about it. I know I was scared because I was never in jail before. I thought i would die when she gave me 30 days. At a certain time they came and got me and I sat in front of a monitor.

JM: What were your original charges? What did you end up being convicted of?
Rachel: I really cant remember how it was put, but I was charged with being on a property where I was not to be. They tried to get me for theft but I had no money on me.
